At GESS, the safety and wellbeing of our students are paramount. We take pride in continuously enhancing our practices and facilities to provide a secure environment where every student can thrive. Here are some of our regular initiatives highlighting our unwavering commitment to this, from training programmes for staff to infrastructure improvements that cater to the unique needs of our students.
Our First Aid Team conducts regular training for staff
Lifeguard Training for PE Teachers and Swim Coaches
In a remarkable display of dedication, our PE teachers and swim coaches completed an intensive lifeguard course. Over two days, they honed their skills and deepened their knowledge to better safeguard the health and safety of our students in aquatic environments. Beyond acquiring essential lifeguarding expertise, this experience also fostered stronger team bonds among staff. The training is a testament to our commitment to ensuring that every activity at GESS, whether on land or in water, is conducted with the utmost care for student safety.
Improved First Aid Facilities
At GESS, it is important to design spaces to suit the needs of our students. With this in mind, not only did we create a Preschool First Aid Station, the first aid station at Sports Block was re-assigned for secondary school use last year. This took into consideration a more private and comfortable environment for our older students and to ease potential congestion at the primary school’s first aid station, overall enhancing user experience for all students.
Training Students and Staff: Building a Culture of Safety
Safety at GESS is a shared responsibility, and it is ensured that both students and staff are equipped with the knowledge and skills to contribute. Annually, teachers participate in first-aid training, an essential preparation for off-campus activities and excursions. Even our learners starting from Preschool benefit from classroom initiatives, such as handwashing lessons, to instill self-care habits from an early age.
The lifeguard training for our swim coaches is an extension of this broader culture of safety. By ensuring our staff are well-prepared and our campus facilities are meticulously maintained, we create an environment where students can focus on learning, growing, and exploring with confidence.
A Continual Commitment
At GESS, we are dedicated to reviewing every aspect of student safety and wellbeing. From staff training to facility upgrades, our initiatives reflect our commitment to providing the best possible environment for our students. As we look ahead, we will continue to introduce new measures to uphold our high standards.
