GESS is delighted to announce that starting AY2025/26, we will be partnering with Eco School Wear as our official school uniform supplier. This decision follows a comprehensive open tender process and reflects the strong culture of our school, students and parent community to sustainability, quality and forward-thinking practices. Jason Hoppner, Director of Operations and Customer Experience, shares the deets on this initiative.

Why the Change?
The move to Eco School Wear is more than a change in supplier, it represents a milestone in GESS’s sustainability journey. As a proud member of The Alliance for Sustainable Schools (TASS), GESS is committed to embedding environmental responsibility across every aspect of school life. By switching to Eco School Wear, we take a bold step forward in ensuring our values are visible in what our students wear every day.
Sustainability from the Heart
Eco School Wear leads the way in sustainable uniform production. Their garments are made from recycled materials, and their commitment to sustainability extends to low-carbon transport methods and environmentally responsible packaging. Their entire supply chain, from raw material to finished product, is designed to minimise environmental impact without compromising on quality or comfort.
Additionally, the new uniforms feature natural antibacterial properties that help reduce the growth of odour-causing bacteria, supporting student hygiene and comfort throughout the school day.

Chosen by Our Community
This change was not decided lightly. A diverse panel of students and parents, representing all sections and a variety of year levels across the school, joined school leaders in evaluating suppliers. Eco School Wear was overwhelmingly the preferred choice across both parent and student groups, praised not only for its sustainability ethos but also for the superior fit, comfort, and durability of its uniforms.
Quality Without the Premium Price Tag
We understand that pricing is an important factor for our families. Despite being a sustainable option, Eco School Wear’s uniform prices are comparable to those from traditional manufacturers. This means families can support sustainability without additional financial burden. The uniforms deliver excellent value through higher durability, reducing the need for frequent replacement.

A Thoughtful, Sustainable Rollout
In keeping with our sustainability values, the new Eco School Wear uniforms will be progressively introduced once current stock from our existing supplier is sold out in the school shop. This approach ensures that no usable stock is wasted unnecessarily.
Families can rest assured that the design of the new uniforms is identical to the current ones, so there will be no visible difference between students wearing existing stock and those wearing the new Eco School Wear items.
As this change represents a supplier transition rather than a design change, parents are not expected or required to purchase new uniforms unless needed. Families may continue using existing uniforms and can choose to buy new or second-hand items only as and when required, for example, when a child outgrows their current uniform.

What This Means for GESS
By choosing Eco School Wear, GESS becomes the first school in Singapore to offer a fully recycled uniform line, a proud achievement that underscores our role as a leader in sustainability education. This is an important moment for our school community to model the values we aim to instil in our students: responsibility, citizenship, and environmental stewardship.
Together, let’s wear our values, proudly and sustainably.
